Member Spotlight - 5th October - Just Us

The Evolution of Patricia Crilly and Maurie Page. The heart and soul behind the sound belongs to Patricia Crilly, who began singing not long after birth. As a native from Liverpool, it’s in the genes. Patricia has been involved in all aspects of music, composing, singing in choirs, conducting choirs as well as the writing and promoting of productions with young people. Patricia is a champion for social justice and advocate for refugees. Backing is provided by Maurie Page, guitar stuff and Peter Ramsay, bass stuff. As teenagers, they used to play together in a band in Townsville. Sometime last century. Covid was the genesis of the group. Travel restrictions and visitor restrictions, required solutions Maurie and Pat alternated house visits and twice a week got together to make music. As restrictions eased, Peter added the grunt. It soon become apparent that we shared an interest in songs that had clever lyrics, great melody and sublime chords. Our repertoire dates from today to 100 years past. We also share a common interest in stretching ourselves in our musical understanding and skills. We enjoy exploring different ways to present a song rather than just replicating the original. The Justus ethos is to share the musical experience with like minded people. The is no greater satisfaction than to make good music with others. Even better when it just clicks. So, for the October sound, Justus also includes the excellent vocals, harmony and musical contribution from Robyn Klein, harmonica, Lex Klein, guitar and Michael Farrell, Drums.
